Skin Detox II

After my first installment of skin detox, I have changed a few of the products out from my routine. Mainly, because I felt the products were not cost-efficient. I got rid of the MyChelle fruit enzyme cleanser and the foundation. I really loved both products, but they both ran out too quickly. After some more trial and error, I found Keys: Island Rx Foaming Facial Cleanser and Keys: Luminos Hydrating Moisturizer.  I love these products; no harsh chemicals and no preservatives, and the cleansing foam lasts forever!

During the day I use Josie Maran Argan Oil or Humbolt Botanicals Topical Nutrient Serum. The serum is amazing! It is packed with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and it is multi purpose as well.
And I am still taking Source Natural vitamins: Skin Eternal and the Hyaluronic Acid.

Much more beneficial than any moisturizer can do for your skin is real whole foods.
My favorite juice I make every day is Kale Juice. I have been drinking Kale juice for the past three years, and it has really helped my skin health and my overall health. It gives me energy for the entire the day. It is my lifesaver, before Kale juice I drank way too many cups of chai and coffee. By the end of the day I was jittery and exhausted. I still enjoy those drinks. I love them too much to give up but I drink them in moderation.

For now here is my recipe for Kale juice. There are plenty of recipes out there to try. I modified a recipe to fit my taste:

1 1/2 cup filtered water
3 to 4 dates
1 tsp light agave
4 large leaves of organic kale
1 pear
1 apple
1 to 2 tbsp lemon juice

Stick the ingredients in a blender and enjoy!

*I also add Healthforce Nutritionals Vitamineral Green and Vitamin C to my kale juice.

I am curious of what you do for your skin care routine...

I received some beautiful vintage pieces from Milena. One of the garments (the top) is her design. The print is gorgeous! Both of the garments look and feel ethereal. The vintage Indian dress is very special. Something about it feels like good women have worn it. I can not wait to see what she has created for her Spring collection!
Check out more of her gorgeous work here.

Flowers on a rainy day just makes me happy.

KeKe

So I should be sleeping right about now but I had to share a blog I came across. It is by a Melborne based artist Kirra Jamison, and the blog is called KeKe. The recipes she shares are inspired by her time living and cooking in Japan, and also from the people she knows and the places they cook.
I can not wait to try the recipe for the Osaka Pumpkin Tofu cake! It is so hard to find a decent vegan dessert.

Cafe Vivid Life

I have to backtrack a bit, time has not been on my side lately. I wanted to post more from my trip to Japan before it became a faint memory. I am so behind I still have two more memory cards of photographs to upload!
One of my favorite things to do in Japan is to visit coffee shops. Japan has some the most amazing coffee shops I have ever been to. Some of the cafes date back to the 1920s. Most serve slow dripped coffee, even though everything takes a little longer it is worth the wait. One of my favorites is Cafe Vivid Life in Sapporo. We always make a special trip to visit Cafe Vivid Life. The owner Satomi Nagatani  makes the most delicious green tea cheese cake, and she is the nicest person. The co-owner Mariko, who happens to be the cutest pregnant women I have seen, trekked through the snow to visit us at the cafe. Everything about the cafe is warm and inviting, the dark hard wood, the abundance of  some of my favorite Japanese magazines, and above all the coffee is the best I have ever had.

Thank you Satomi and Mariko!

ikoiko space

I first learned of ikoiko from renee. It was on the top of my list of places I had to visit in LA.
When we arrived Kristen was just about to close shop. My friend and I did not realize all the road blocks that were put up for the Oscars. We nearly did not make it on time. She was so kind to let us stay and look around her beautiful shop.
My friend picked up a stunning pair of earrings by Hannah Keefe.
If you are in the LA area or visting it is not to be missed.
