Cleaning Out My Closet Yet Again

Because the New Year is approaching I made a promise to myself to edit my wardrobe and to be a strategic shopper. I love theses pieces, but I have never worn any of these frocks and that is a bad sign of over excess. Clare Vivier Le Mini Sac

I adore my new Clare Vivier Mini Sac from Pretty Mommy. My first red purse ever! It is smaller than my Mayle Baby Billies but I do not mind the size at all. It is the perfect "date night" purse it has enough space for the essentials: keys, lipstick, and money/cards.  The pop of color really cheers me up.

Aside from Mayle frocks, Tucker is my favorite when it comes to feminine cuts and beautiful prints. This red dress by Tucker is stunning! I love how her lipstick matches the dress. Would be the perfect dress for the holidays.

6X6

No.6 has collaborated with Urban Outfitters. They have made a few shoes and a small collection of clothing. The only item I am interested in is the high waisted pant ($69). I feel the collection is truly geared toward the younger consumer I mean it is Urban Outfitters after all.

O meeting Wayne Thiebaud.

O dancing during the reception.

Last night we went to see Wayne Thiebaud speak, I was beside myself I have been a fan of his work since I was a kid. It was such an honor to hear him speak. He was humble, thought provoking, and witty. I am so inspired by his enthusiasm for teaching art, he still teaches one course a year at UC Davis. At the beginning of the lecture he showed slides of artwork from various artists, and he explained that when showing paintings to students the importance should not be placed on who the artist is, but rather the focus should be on the act of looking at the painting for what it is. A great tidbit for anyone who teaches Art. 

We decided to take O with us, which I was hesitant to do at first but she had a blast. She was excited to meet him and the highlight for her was getting her favorite counting book signed by the Mr. Thiebaud. Suffice it to say, it was an amazing evening.

Lipstick Queen

I have been searching high and low for the perfect lipstick and needless to say, I found it! It is called Rose Sinner by Lipstick Queen and the color on my lips look like a deep rose color. The best thing about this color is it works perfectly for both day and night wear. The Lipstick Queen lipsticks come in two ranges Sinner and Saints. The Sinner range are the matte lipsticks made with 90% pigment and the Saints are the sheer lipsticks with a hint of color and is made with 10% pigment.

Rose Sinner reminds me of Vigée Le Brun's lip color in her self portrait (did i go too far with this? probably, but who cares i love this lipstick!)

Just found a sale for MiH Jeans on Swirl by Daily Candy. Swirl has pretty much the same format as Gilt Groupe. I do not know when this sale began, but it ends tomorrow. The sale has almost all my favorite styles of MiH jeans.

The Kiosk web store has been one of my favorite online shops for a while now. They have a knack of finding some of the best obscure objects from around the globe. At the moment Kiosk is featuring objects from Japan. It is their second selection of objects from Japan. Some of the items remind of things I would find at my Ojiichan's house in Japan.

My favorite jean company MiH Jeans is going to open an online shop soon! I am so excited about the news. There are other online retailers which carry the line (JCrew is one of them), but they are either out of a style I want or do not carry a certain style. I have tried countless of brands (ACNE, AG, Current/Elliot, J Brand...the list goes on) and my MiH jeans have stood the test of time in terms of style and fit.
